There’s a Path in the Forest

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

I’m really liking some of these! I can almost smell the earthiness through them.

I don’t know why, I’m particularly fascinated with the forest. Stevenson is probably right πŸ™‚

Love the images you put together, Sarah. They fit very well with elements that I envision whilst writing “Glade”. Great.

My favorite thing about the forest is all the textures~ so many things for the eye to look at, linger on…. while the brain relaxes and the body simply breathes.

I once watched a documentary about the Alps and a ranger was interviewed. He was asked if he thought creatures like the ones in the legends and myths truly existed. The creatures thought to populate the forest.
He said, “When you are alone in the forest, and you look around and listen, and see movements and shadows… you can never be absolutely sure of what you’re seeing.”
That’s the magic of the forest for me πŸ™‚
