I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Truth!
And a lesson I try to teach my son. Never be afraid to miss or make a mistake. It’s the only way to learn!

That’s a hard lesson to learn, isn’t it?

What a great inspirational quote for the day! We’re taught to avoid failure, when really trying and failing is the only way we can learn. I will continue to remind myself of this when I am worried about mistakes. 🙂

It is a very good quote. It really struck me when I first read it. I think you’re right, it’s because we’re taught to avoid failure.
Another great quote is Neil Gaiman’s “I hope you’ll fail.” For the same reason 😉

Great quote, thanks for sharing it. It reminds of a quote that is usually attributed to Confucius: “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall.”
Hope you are well!

I do know that quote. It’s super true 🙂

What an awesome, awesome quote! I need to keep that in mind — I’m too much of a perfectionist and I have kittens any time I make a mistake.
I guess the way to look at mistakes and failures is as getting one more out of the way and therefore being one step closer to success!

Uhm… well, I actually think at mistakes as an unexpected way to learn something I didn’t know I need to learn 😉

I will always love Michael Jordan. There really was something about him to be looked up to, and that quote just solidifies it for me. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I don’t know him very well, but that quote is truly good. And I’ve read other very good ones too.
