In the Sixties, Arnold Joseph was the perfect hippy (video)

The story Thomas tell is from the opening of Because my father always said he was the only Indian who saw Jimi Hendrix play “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Woodstock from the collection The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.

I love Evan Adams’ interpretation.

Sherman-AlexieSA: Thomas is Thomas. The actor who plays him is amazing. Evan Adams. He’s had small roles in Canadian productions; he’s a First Nation guy from up there. He’s just amazing. He’s sort of taken Thomas.  I can’t write about… I tried to write a short story with Thomas in it but I couldn’t. I kept seeing him.

JP: Seeing Adams?

SA: He’s taken him away from me. He’s so convincing, so real, so Thomasy. He’s a adjective now.

I’d never heard of Smoke Signals before, that’s a great scene though. I’ll have to check it out!
