Well, good thing that I didn’t really promise to post my first article about the Twenties New Woman this week… because it’s not ready (No, I’m sorry, I actually said it was nearly a promise). I’ll just say that I have a very good excuse for it… actually I have three. You’ll just have to trust me on that.
Good for you that a couple of weeks ago, Melissa tagged me for the 777 Challenge. I declined her invitation on account that I already post snippets of eight sentences every other Sunday for the 8 Sentence Sunday on Dieselpunks, but then Sue also tagged me for the same challenge, so gals… grand, you’ve talked me into it!
The 777 challenge requires you go to Page 7 of your work-in-progress, scroll down to Line 7 and share the next 7 sentences in a blog post. Once you have done this, you can tag 7 other bloggers to do the same with their work-in-progress.
Here is my excerpt:
“Well, you should have known, right?” the other woman challenge. “She was your secretary.” Then her eyes slid down to the satchel. A shadow crossed her face.
Miss Sullivan shoved her to one side. “She messed up with a lot of things.” Ice crept into her voice. “But it will be sorted.”
Seriously, I’ve seen people who posted a chunk of page out of their seven sentences. Mine are just… seven short, small, tiny, almost unnoticeable sentences…
Well, anyway, this is my snippet.
And who am I going to tag? Uhm, let me see…
Celine JeanJean (who tagged me for the Love/Hate Challenge… another thing I have to do…), Jack (who’s having an argument with his new story at the moment), Roland (who’s working hard on his new story), and all my fellow writers currently partecipating in the 8 Sentence Sunday Lupachi1927, CW, Holly, Alice
Hope you’ll enjoy, guys!

Fab snippet, got me interested in your work! And short sentences are the best.

Thanks Gulara 🙂
Always happy to hear people like my characters and what happens to them.

I love your snippet, it grabs my attention immediately. Builds superb tension if just a few lines. The short, snappy sentences are perfect for the scene. Here’s mine, for what it’s worth. 😉

I love short, snappy, tension-filled sentences 🙂 Great snippet. Thanks for sharing – I’m so glad you decided to play along.
jazzfeathers
Eh… you gals insisted to much 😉
But it was fun, so I’m happy you did.

Will give this a go, although not sure what my WIP is, as between projects or rather back and forth between two or is it three.
jazzfeathers
That’s actually an advantage. You look up all three WIP and choose the one with the best, most alluring snippet 😉
Roland Clarke
That’s exactly what I did. Post is up at: http://rolandclarke.com/2015/06/28/the-777-challenge/

Hey, cool! You managed to share two snippets 😉
I like both of them, but I’m particularly intrigued withthe second… probably because I know so little about that project.
Sue Coletta
Excellent snippet! I’m intrigued.

I’m happy you guys like this snippet. This is actually a recent addition to the first chapter, after… oh, I don’t know… a number of revisions.
Celine Jeanjean
Excellent snippet! Lots of tensions simmering beneath the surface with that one!
So it’s on, it’s a challenge-off! I take your challenge, and I shall extend you another one in return… When I find a challenge to extend that is 😉
jazzfeathers
Uhm… I though I was already on with a challenge with you 😉
Sara L.
Nice! I just started following you (in response to you following me *winks*), so I don’t know much about your work. Is this part of the Ghost Trilogy? Or something else?
jazzfeathers
Oh, thanks for the follow and welcome to my blog 🙂
Yes, this is part of the Ghost Trilogy, from the first chapter.
Lucy Flint
Yay!! Great snippet! Thanks for directing me to it. 🙂
jazzfeathers
Hey Lucy, thanks for stopping by… and for tagging me once again 😉
Roland Clarke
Might take me a while to get round to doing this as very busy with arrangements for US emigration. Already had to postpone another ‘tag’ on Facebook due to workload. July okay?
jazzfeathers
When ever you’re ready, Roland. There is no deadline 😉
